At work, suicidal people usually show signs...here are some to help you recognize them.

Being very happy after a period of depression.

Acts more aggressive or stressed than usual and lash out at people.

Mentions being visibly tired all the time,

Said to be a burden:

"Everyone would be better off if I wasn't here!

Does not show up to work as often and is absent for periods of time.

Is not as productive as usual and cannot be motivated.

Some signs require more immediate action.

If the person talks about wanting to die or commit suicide and/or is looking for a way to commit suicide or already has a plan, stay with them and make sure they get the help they need.

Build on the person’s strengths, resources and need for autonomy;

Help to name and understand;

Equip/give power:

1- Establish a relationship of trust and respect;

2- Reassure the person about confidentiality;

3- Normalize and talk about non-judgment;

4- Initiate acceptance and openness of conversation about emotions;

5- Respect moments of silence;

6- Respect the need for autonomy and offer options;

8- Offer appropriate tools and resources.
